Dr. Paul M. Bekkum
Hello, my name is Dr. Paul M. Bekkum, I am a Doctor of Chiropractic and a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner. I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology. My post-graduate training also includes extremity evaluation and treatment. My mission is to help you achieve your health goal, whether that be pain relief or peak performance, naturally.
What I offer is a comprehensive consultation to understand your specific health concerns. The depending on your situation a through evaluation of your bodies kinetic chain, muscle function and neurological controls. This could include, depending on where your condition is located, evaluating your extremities starting at your feet and progressing up your legs to your hips and pelvis. Then evaluating your spine, starting at your sacrum up to and including your skull. While evaluating the spine I will also screen your rib cage and temporal mandibular joint for problems. Lastly, I will evaluate your upper extremities from your collar bone and scapula down to your finger tips.
After evaluating everything necessary, I will discuss with you all the treatment options that I can do to help you achieve your health goals. If you choose to start treatment, your treatment could include the following:
- Orthotics
- Heel lift
- Extremity Adjustments, supports, kinesiotaping
- Spinal Adjustments, supports, kinesiotaping
- Soft Tissue Treatments: Trigger point therapy, IASTM(Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation), Active Stretching Techniques
- Pain Relieving Modalities
- Exercises for:
- Correcting Posture
- Correcting Gait
- Stretching
- Strengthening
- Functional Activities
By fixing kinetic chain problems, you will have long term relief and stability and postpone or completely prevent joint surgeries. You should also notice improved physical performance due to your joints being better aligned, having better motion, better strength and better control.
In summary, if I can find your problem areas and you follow through until they are corrected, not only will you feel better but you will be able to perform your activities better. Then should your problem return, you get evaluated and treated early, you should have your problem resolved quickly.
